Day 1: Montreal

Yesterday was the kick off show for the tour! It was at Brassiere Beaubien/Brassiere Bro-ben/Brass Bropen. I made friends with the bartender and she told my friend that I was 'cute.' My resulting sense of entitlement to free drinks resulted in her telling my friend that I was 'an asshole.'

I caught the end of Feefaufam's set, they were spastic, Captain Beefheart-y, and shredded. They had a song called Crapitalism during which I started heckling them about the validity of free-market economic policy. I don't think I made many friends this night.

I finally heard GIRL ARM live and they were real good. Tight, angular, three-sided okay I am describing a triangle. They are noise rock, I know I described Notta Comet as such but that isn't totally accurate because I stopped listening to new music after the 2007 release of Kanye West's Graduation. But despite this lack of musical knowledge, GIRL ARM is dirty rhymically tight in your face noise rock. I met them after the show and they were incredibly nice. Actually one of the guys from GIRL ARM was taking the cash box and I wanted to make sure he wasn't stealing it and was in GIRL ARM. But our resulting conversation was pleasant! However Zakir did not want to discuss trickle-down economics with me and seemed to be less enthusiastic about Reagan's handling of the 1981 PATCO strike than I was.

Their set was great, I already know the words and can't wait to show my knowledge of the lyrics while we tour various Canadian and American cities. I will also bring out sheets so I can give them to the audience members who do not know the words! 

If any one reading this has any advice about how many pairs of underwear to bring on an week plus long tour let me know asap because we are leaving for Ottawa at 5.

Also if you are an Ottawatonian/Gatineauian/Hull-ian come to our show tonight!I have started referring to myself as part of Notta Comet and am suffering eventual ego death and become one with the collective unconscious of the band. 

After the show Crawford crashed at Eli's and my place. I just showered, cut myself shaving, and my glasses aren't crooked, I actually have a crooked head. 

I don't think Crawford has seen this blog so I don't think he will be too uncomfortable to spend an intense amount of time with me?

Intro to the Notta Tour

Hey this is Dan.

This is the official unsanctioned blog for the Notta Tour 2014. What is the Notta Tour 2014? It is the inaugural tour of Notta Comet, a MTL based noise rock band. I don't know if they identify with that label but they sound like the Minutemen and maybe Dismemberment Plan also a little bit of math rock. I stopped listening to music after Kanye West's Graduation came out so I am not the best to talk about genres. I am going on tour with the mighty Notta Comet and GIRL ARM as hype-man/roadie/merch-man/Eli's tamer/Alex's psychiatrist/documentarian/social media intern.

Eli and drum-2012? 

 Eli is every Jewish mother's dream and nightmare. He recycles, is sensitive and socially aware, but is free-spirited and does not know if he will consider marrying a Jewish woman solely bc of cultural commonalities. Eli is critical of our current discourse about sustainability and I think he is about 130 pounds.

 This is Crawford. That is not crawford's real name, what's his real name? I don't know. He is brooding and mysterious and likes jazz. He has a great side project which is real weird country. I am also a strip club promoter in one of his music videos. I am a strip club promoter, it is my job. Crawford has no favorite color he likes all of them equally (I suspect he may see the world in black and white, but this is only a rumor I am starting)

Alex

Alex and book-2012?

How does one describe Alex? Usually it is with a series of adjectives or figurative language. Like he is a ray of sunshine. Like he once made mead which looked a lot like pee which he kept in my apartment and scared away potential subletters which I slightly resent(ed) him for. He made drum'n'bass music and wrote a novella. This is his second tour but his first as Notta Comet, his first tour he toured as Alex Williams and did what I am doing but for a band called Head Honcho. Alex once saw a Tumblr which was so tumblr he threw up.
